The New Leaves collection by Michael Aram is a celebration of the beauty and meaning of individual leaves. Inspired by specific types of leaves that have acquired sentimental significance in Michael's life, this collection embodies his sincere passion for nature in its purest and most personal form. Each leaf has its own form. history, its own symbolism and its inherent wonder, detail and form. For the first time, Michael also interprets an entire collection of leaves in the proportions in which they actually occur in nature, enhancing the sense of realism for which he is so well known. While each leaf is expressed as sculptural object, Michael once again managed to pour functionality into his forms, making them ideal for the most elementary moments of our everyday life. "In my garden and in my workshop in India there are Champa or frangipana trees. In fact, they are all over India. Usually they are planted near Buddhist and Hindu temples, since they are considered spirit trees, very symbolic of love and rest. Although the flowers are known for their beauty, soft color transitions and fragrance, in fact, I am most intrigued by the hard, shiny leaves. There is such power in their ordered and perfected forms."
