Many people are surprised to learn that after more than 200 years our company remains in family hands.
Equally unusual is the fact that we have remained true to the City of Blades and still produce forged knives only in Solingen, Germany.
We believe that quality knives can only be made where precision manufacturing meets traditional craftsmanship, and there's no place like home for that.
Manufacturing may be cheaper in other international locations, but when it comes to making our knives, continuity and a long-term vision are important to us. We've spent over two centuries honing our knives and our techniques to perfection, and we employ some of the most skilled knifemakers in the world to ensure our premium blades are truly extraordinary.
Seventh generation
Today, the seventh generation of Wuesthof family members, cousins Viola Wuesthof and Harald Wuesthof, run one of the most innovative knife manufacturers in the world.
WÜSTHOF knives are now exported from Solingen to eighty countries around the world, from Reykjavik to Cape Town, Tokyo and San Francisco. We are proud of our heritage, our traditions of craftsmanship and the wealth of experience we can draw on.
Our goal is to offer food lovers, culinary enthusiasts and chefs around the world extremely sharp, high quality knives that are beautiful, functional and perfectly balanced at the same time. The next 200 years will see us continue to marry this form and function in our centuries-old home, the City of Blades.
